We have just received a letter from one of our soldiers serving in Afghanistan. He wrote to thank us for the parcel of Koolabanda cooling scarves we had sent out to him. He writes:

“Having spent a very long time embroiled in a losing battle against the heat, I was genuinely surprised to find something that had a counter-effect…the scarf is fantastic when used through the night. The temperature is still in the 30°C’s and wearing the scarf as a headband is absolutely brilliant and makes sleep a lot more comfortable. I’ve passed all the scarves you sent out amongst the lads and they are used regularly when sleeping through the day in the shade or at night…”

We are delighted that Koolabanda cooling scarves are effective even in the heat of the desert. Why not order yours today so you can enjoy the wonderful Indian summer in comfort!

In demyelinated nerve fibres, heat slows down or even stops the electric current, exacerbating your symptoms and your discomfort. This is not just a summer problem either, throughout the year overheating can be caused by excessively hot rooms or humidity. Many Multiple Sclerosis support organisations suggest that keeping cool plays an important part in managing your MS symptoms. In fact, according to the Multiple Sclerosis resource centre (www.mstrust.org.uk), just lowering your core body temperature by one degree F can greatly affect what you can or can’t do. They suggest that cooling can improve symptoms such as fatigue, dexterity, mobility, balance and cognitive function. They quote research from a clinical nurse in New Jersey who has been observing the effects of cooling. She says that “Cooling devices appear to provide an increased sense of well being to some people with MS. Those who benefited experienced measurable increases in grip strength and walking speed. All those taking part reported feelings of increased weakness once the effects of the cooling wore off.”

Our Koolabanda cooling scarf works in conjunction with your body’s natural cooling system and can help you cool down faster and stay cool for longer, perfect for helping you manage your MS symptoms. Our scarf is easy to use and comfortable so why not buy a cooling scarf now and Koolabanda will help you keep cool!

Nearly all women at some point in their lives will suffer from hot flushes, most commonly during pregnancy or the menopause.

During pregnancy you’re likely to feel warmer than you usually do. This is due to hormonal changes and an increased blood supply. You’re also likely to sweat more. Even on cool days you may feel overheated.

As your body goes through the menopause you may experience hot flushes at any time, often several times an hour. It’s not fully understood why these sweating attacks occur but it’s thought to happen as the automatic controls of the nervous system become erratic.

Whatever the cause of your hot flush, we know that they are uncomfortable, distressing and may prevent you from sleeping properly.

Medical practitioners advise women going through the menopause to make simple lifestyle changes to help them cope with the changes in their body (see NHS advice) . Wearing lighter clothing and sleeping in a cool room can help with the night sweats and hot flushes and wearing a Koolabanda cooling scarf goes one step further towards helping your body keep cool so you can get a good night’s sleep.

Our lightweight cooling scarf is also comfortable to wear during pregnancy and it helps to cool the blood flowing to and from the brain. This blood then goes on to cool the rest of your body, reducing your heart rate and stress and helping you relax..which is just what every Mum-to-be needs!

Whatever the cause of your hot flush, buy a cooling scarf now and Koolabanda will help you keep cool!
